In a time when new materials and proposals used in spaces quickly become clichés, losing their initial excitement; when what is considered “new” passes through the filter of current standards and results in spatial sameness—fueled also by demand—it is undeniable that the importance and value of spaces that resist becoming temporary consumer objects, that are not confined by the transience of trends, that are timeless yet contemporary, unconventional, characterful, original, and created with sincerity, are increasingly recognized. Unfortunately, their numbers are dwindling day by day.

With this awareness, this year’s in SPACE exhibition will, without being bound by time, present a selection of not only original and characterful projects created with professional discipline, but also spatial proposals that often go unnoticed—“unprojected,” perhaps flawed and contradictory—yet still possessing aesthetic value and soul.
